Why won't nero 8 burn my dvd files to my brand new dvd+r dl blank discs? - best dvd r dl blanks discs

I Burn a movie on DVD, but it is too large to fit on a normal DVD DVD + R Then I went to Best Buy and bought a brand new Memorex DVD + R DL to burn this film. I am using Nero 8 and when I burn the disc, I get an error message that "this CD is not writable". Then I read a few forums and tried to understand the problem. Some people said they were on DVD + R DL with Clone DVD 2, so I've downloaded the demo version to this give it a shot. It was the same. Error message says the disk is not writable.

Is there a problem with my burner? I use a / TSSTcorp CD DVDW TS-L532U burner on a Gateway laptop. I've never had a problem writing to single layer DVD + R, so I am confused as to why you can not write to dual layer discs. Any help would be very grateful!
